I have always been in love with photography. One of my best memories of high school was the B&W photography class I took. As an adult I continued my interest into recent years where my interest increased into a passion. That passion is fueled by a desire to reflect the beauty of all created things. Be it the beauty of nature, a smile, a simple moment of connection, there is a message to be seen in an image, a message which can be experienced, tells a story and allows us in.
I am hopefully a bit out of the ordinary in my approach to photography. I prefer to structure myself and imagery around your life as it naturally happens. I guess what I am trying to say with that statement is that I like my photography to appear as natural as possible rather than tightly structured and forced. I want “who you are” to be visible in your images. That is one of the reasons I take the time, if possible , prior to any shoot, to get to know you better. It is important that there be a connection between the photographer and their subject.
I know that for many people, including myself, it can be an uncomfortable position to be in, in front of the lens. I understand that uncomfortability. I know the best images will come when you feel comfortable enough to just be who you are. Thankfully I have been blessed with a personality and demeanor that puts people (big and small) at ease pretty quickly. I want us all to walk away feeling like we had a good time and I want to provide the imagery that proves we did.
I would love the opportunity to work with you to capture reflections of your life’s memorable moments. I enjoy working with available light but am comfortable in studio as well. I prefer location work but also have a small studio setup in my home.
