Focused or Not, Who Cares? | Minneapolis Photographer

I had fun yesterday… we should all hang around with people like this and have some real fun from time to time. Put down the iPad (or NOOK Tablet in my case) and get out and have some fun with the kids. Some of these shots are not in focus. Does that matter? Heck no, look at those faces. Every bit of emotion of the moment still comes beaming through. So, lighten up… don’t sweat the small things… and have some real fun!

Just One Bite | A Return To Grimm | Minneapolis Event Photographer

I just got caught up with all my current wedding and portrait work and realized yesterday, I had forgotten I had one more Circus Juventas – GRIMM (Happily Ever After) performance to edit from the last day’s performance. I think I got many of my best shots that day but I still need to edit them. This is one, not a high action shot, but a shot that reveals the grace, emotion and beauty that Circus Juventas puts into these wonderful performances. If you have never been to a Circus Juventas performance you are missing out on so much. Please make a point to check them out sometime.

Be looking for one more summary type post on the show once I finish this last set. All the images I have shot are available on my “store” website. You will need a password however so please contact me for that.

Cam’s Senior Portrait Session | Minneapolis Portrait Photography | Class of 2012

Cam is a Senior at White Bear Lake High School. I’ve known Cam for about 7 years now, He is my wife’s nephew. It has been fun to see him grow up during this time to the man that he is today. His Grandma (who passed away last year) was so fond of Cam and I know she would be pleased to see the person he is today. Not only is he a awesome athlete he is also a good person with a good heart. I look forward to seeing his future unfold.

We headed to Stillwater Minnesota on a blindingly bright (and warm) morning full of sunshine. Here are some of the shots we captured.

Thanks Cam for allowing me to take these for you. I was honored to do it and would have loved to share these with your Grandma and see her face light up. However, I know she is beaming brightly upon you right now.

Kaydee’s Senior Portrait Session | Minneapolis Portrait Photography | Class of 2012

I met Kaydee and her mother through our church. They had seen some of my work and inquired about doing Kaydee’s Senior Portrait Session. Something I was very excited to do.

Kaydee was a joy to work with… as was her mother… and they gave me a beautiful yard to shoot in one early evening. Kaydee’s grace and beauty came through in the images we got that night and I am happy and pleased to share some of those here with you now.

Have a blessed and enjoyable Senior year Kaydee and thank you so much for allowing me the chance to capture these images with you.

CJ Program Portraits | Minneapolis Portrait Photography

I was asked to take some headshots for Circus Juventas to be used for the Summer Performance program. This year’s production, another Circus Juventas original, is titled GRIMM: Happily Ever After. Tickets go on sale July 5th. Get your tickets soon as shows sell out and this is something you do not want to miss.

With that… here are some of my favorite shots. It was wonderful working more closely with all the performers. Generally we do not get to interact as I am primarily shooting performances. I appreciated this opportunity to meet and work with them all on a different level.

Cassie and Cam | Junior Prom | White Bear High School

My wife’s nephew Cam was heading out to his Junior Prom with his girlfriend Cassie. Tanya, Cam’s mom asked me to get some shots of them which I was more than happy to do. They both looked great. I had a good time meeting Cassie’s family and it was a pleasure to photograph this major event in their lives.

Mabel At One | Minneapolis Family Portraits

I was so excited to get to spend some time with Mabel again. I first photographed her when she was only five days old. During that session she slept most of the time which did not do a whole lot to prepare me for photographing her now just after she had turned one. Quite a difference. She was very much attracted to the camera and would come crawling at me everytime I started shooting. I had so much fun trying to keep up with her. It was also so very nice to talk and catch-up with Mabel’s Mom and Dad. A very creative couple to be certain with Rebecca’s cooking and David’s web design. I am interested in seeing how Mabel grows and what she does with the incredible life that lays before her. I am blessed to have a window into her life’s journey.

So after our shoot I emailed David and Rebecca a shot to tease them with while they waited for the rest to be processed (I am so mean like that) only to find the next day that they had made a blog post about our shoot the day before. I was very honored by what they wrote.

Thank you David, Rebecca and Mabel. You are a wonderful family and I am so grateful to have been able to take these shots with you all. I sincerely hope we can get together like this for years to come. God bless!

Atlanta Trip 2011 | Passion 2011

Deb and I made our fourth trek to Georgia at the start of the year. We were once again serving at a Passion Conference (sixth time). We very much believe in what the Passion family is doing. Their ambition is to make the name of Jesus famous on this earth. Their conferences are geared towards high school seniors and college students. We all (20,000+) came together for some great teaching, worship and also community breakouts and then we head out, and out, and out carrying with us what we have learned and trying to walk alongside Jesus in every aspect of our lives. Deb and I generally find some time to ourselves during these conferences, namely during dinner time. The time we have to do our thing is short but we manage to squeeze some good times in with just us two. Here are some of my favorite shots of the conference and some other shots just around town while we were on our own.

Circus Juventas | 2010 Gala | St. Paul, MN.

Every year Circus Juventas hosts this Gala in which they raise money for scholarships for students amongst other things. This year was emceed, as was last year, by BT from Cities 97.This event was a wonderful close to a first year relationship with Circus Juventas as photographer. The evening encompasses a silent auction, a regular sort of auction, a catered dinner and drinks, and highlights from the summer show which this year was Sawdust. One highlight of the evening was Dan Butler (Founder and Executive Director of CJ) congratulating and presenting the Triple Trapeze Team with the gold medals they won in a national competition in Sweden just a week or so prior to the Gala.

Thank you Circus Juventas for an exciting year!

Here are some of “my” highlights from the evening. Enjoy!

Mother and Daughter | Minneapolis Portraits

I had the great pleasure to get out with Kari and her daughter last Sunday to do a session. It was a hot, and I mean hot, day getting hotter by the minute. We started about 11:00 so the sun was not at its kindest but we managed in the heat and glare of its light.
Kari’s daughter was so much fun to hang around with. We started at the park and then she was excited to show me “her” tree at their home. She loves to climb on this old tree shown in the images. We even managed some time with the family dog.
I enjoyed our time together and the opportunity of rising to the challenge of heat and light.

Here are some of my favorites from our time together, enjoy.
