I was lucky enough to meet Linda and Greg through a mutual friend of ours.
I met with Linda on a couple of occasions to discuss their plans for their day but I did not get to meet Greg until the night of the rehearsal. Greg lives in Oklahoma and Linda lives here in Minneapolis but will soon relocate to Oklahoma with Greg.
I toured the American Swedish Institute along with my wife Deb one day. What an amazing place, I loved it. I had all sorts of ideas for shooting in the mansion. What I did not know however, was that Linda had no intention of using the mansion for photos. She is a modern, forward thinking, person and really did not want to make use of the mansion at all. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that I could not make use of the gorgeous mansion but the newer part of the institute is bright and modern and I knew it would be just as much fun. Just a matter of switching gears in my mind.
It was a wonderful wedding with a string quartet as a prelude to the ceremony and they also played throughout the cocktail hour. After the cocktail hour we moved into the hall and were treated to the music of the Bruce A Henry Band.

In spite of the snow that could still be found here and there, it was an awesome night.

Caroline and Justin | Minneapolis Wedding Photography

This was a Minneapolis wedding where I did not get to spend much time with the Bride and Groom prior to the wedding. Caroline and Justin currently reside in Kansas City, KS but will be moving here to the Twin Cities within about a month of writing.

Caroline is a doctor and Justin works as an ER . Caroline’s mother works in the same building as I and she managed to here that I was a wedding photographer so most of my communications were with her.

With the snow still on the ground, the wedding ceremony took place at Our Lady Of Grace Church in Edina. The rules surrounding where I could shoot from were a bit restricting compared to most venues but it all worked out. I only got told once that I exceeded the boundaries and that was purely due to a misunderstanding. The church is gorgeous. We had a cloudy, overcast day, but on a sunny day the rays have to just be pouring through all the windows there.

The reception took place a the Ramada – Mall of America.

Everyone loved the wedding cake topper which I heard was created from a photograph of the two of them.

I wish them the best of luck in their wedding and relocation to the Twin Cities.

I have upgraded some gear over the past couple of years and have now found it is time to say goodbye to a couple of close friends. I am selling my gently used Canon 5D as well as my equally gently used Canon 40D.

You can see from the images they have been well taken care of and quite honestly neither of them has seen alot of use. More personal work than anything else.

Included with both cameras is the original box, manuals, charger, battery and a strap.

I am asking $300 for the Canon 40D.

I am asking $600 for the Canon 5D.

Jenaye and Jeff Winter Wedding | Aamodt’s Apple Orchard | Stillwater

A Winter wedding story: As I recall Jenaye and Jeff contacted me in mid-October to inquire about photographing their December 8th Winter wedding. So we met at French Meadow Bakery one Saturday morning for breakfast and to see if we were a good fit for each other. I was a bit surprised to realize they had been planning an outdoor wedding in December. I mean come on, this is Minnesota after all. Believe it or not though I got really excited. They wanted to do something different and their plans sounded wonderful. They were having a small outdoor wedding at Aamodt’s Apple Farm in Stillwater. I had been to Aamodts numerous times and loved the location. It has it all… but the vineyards and trees aren’t to full come December. I knew it would still be awesome in Winter.

They did not really do a rehearsal but I met with them at Aamodts the day before their wedding and worked with them to setup everything. Hauling items from the car to the barn to driving shepherds hooks into the frozen tundra. It was really a nice time just to spend with them and enjoy their company… they are such a cute team.

Their ceremony was wonderful with family and close friends gathered around a fire-pit as they exchanged vows. A frozen pond lined with trees formed the backdrop for this scene. I loved the fact that they decided to do all the formals out there in the cold… and it was pretty chilly. Nearing sundown as they finished up with a walk through the sparklers and hopped on the bus to head to the reception.

The ceremony while small lead into a large reception back in Bloomington. Quite a contrast from the intimate wedding we had all been privileged to attend just a couple hours before. There were so many people it was hard to navigate the waiting area as folks waited to be led into the ballroom. The reception took place at the Minneapolis Airport Marriott.

It was a day I will not forget. I hope once again to shoot another Winter wedding. Very special!

Jillian and Brent Wedding | The Woods Chapel | Orono, MN.

I met Jillian and Brent through Jillian’s brother Taylor. We shot their engagement session in the Spring. Talk about a couple so meant for each other and so full of personality and love. You could not help but fall in love with these two. I attended and photographed the Groom’s Dinner which took place at Jake O’Connor’s in Excelsior. It was great to get a preview of the day to come and see the various family and friends and how they all related. I’d have provided some of those shots… which were awesome… but in all honesty it was all I could do to whittle this post down to what is being presented. Which is alot. The day was chilly but the surroundings were gorgeous at The Woods Chapel in Orono. For a photographer it was like one of those weddings you dream of doing. The dream can come true and when it does you better be ready to go. I had no help on this wedding, no assistant and no second but yeah… I rocked it. But so did everyone else. The pictures tell the story… just as they should. This was a beautiful wedding on a beautiful day with beautiful people in a beautiful setting. So grateful to have met these two and even more grateful that they gave me this opportunity to peer into their day with my camera.

Welcome To Minnesota! | Family Session | Winter 2013

I was excited to get out with these folks for a quick family session outdoors in the middle of our wonderful Minnesota Winter. Ryan, Jen and the boys had just relocated here from Ohio where the Winters are not quite as intense as we experience here in the Twin Cities. Thankfully we got a decent day to get out and grab some shots… we had tried once before but Ol’ Man Winter got the best of us that day and we had to re-schedule. We did not have a whole lot of time… like 20 minutes… to get these shots. It was a bit cold and blustery for the little ones. The littlest just having turned 6 months old.

Welcome to Minnesota Ryan, Jen and the boys. I hope you love it here and I look forward to photographing you all again sometime when we don’t have to be all bundled up. It was a pleasure meeting you all.

Valparaiso Wedding | Denita and Andy | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

Amazing… yep that is how I would sum up this weekend in October.
I met Denita in 2011 at her sister Connie’s, wedding and we became Facebook friends. Denita lived in Chicago at the time. I saw sometime last year she had gotten engaged and they were planning their wedding. I loved working with Connie and Isaac and their families in 2011 and wanted to shoot Denita and Andy’s wedding and spend time with all these folks again. Well, after some email volley’s and a phone call I was booked and quite delighted to be a part of their day.

Deb and I drove out to Valparaiso the Friday morning before the big day. I was able to be there for the rehearsal (which I always like to do when possible). The ceremony was held at the Chapel of the Resurrection on the Valparaiso College campus. With the reception taking place in a large tent at Vermillion Farm.

The weather was gorgeous, the chapel was gorgeous, the bride was gorgeous, the families and friends were wonderful… and the beer… all brewed by Denita’s Dad and friend was delicious. What more could you ask for? Well beautiful pictures to remember and tell the story of the day. So here are a few.

Passion 2013 | Atlanta Georgia

Deb and I returned to Atlanta to serve on the Lunch Team of Passion 2013. Making this our eighth Passion conference (2007, 2008 Regionals in Chicago, LA, and Atlanta, 2010, 2011, 2012). This was our second year on the Lunch Team. This year we fed, now get this, 55,000+ people lunch in about 14 minutes. Can you believe it? What an awesome team effort it was. We also worked on the Registration Team which checked in thousands of attendees for the conference. It was a wonderful and blessed time. It was great to see old friends as well as make some new.

LOVE was in the Dome and we all felt it, and we all drank it in.

I don’t go with the thought of taking photographs… but every where I go I take them. Working your bee-hind off at a Passion Conference is not conducive to much photo taking but I took a couple of opportunities to get some shots.
