Well I made it through my first wedding shoot. Shooting second for Alissa was really a blessing. I had a great time and certainly learned a few thing from her. The wedding party was a fun group and the weather, which at this time can be pretty iffy, was great… and thankfully not hot.
I enjoyed helping Alissa and watching her work and pose the couple and groups for their formals. The candid photojournalist type shots come natural to me but the posing, and having it come off looking natural, and interesting is indeed an art in and of itself. I came away knowing that this was something I want to do again and again. Having always loved weddings I really enjoyed it… they are simply the best. One thing I did not really expect not having met any of the party before was how they welcomed me in… I felt connected to the whole thing and that was one of the things that really “made it” for me.
Last night I revamped my website and did some consolidation and readying for where I really want it to go. I added my wedding category and an event category. I consolidated all my miscellaneous shots into a personal interest group. So I cleaned things up and focused them more towards the direction I want to go and the work I want to display.
This Friday I will be heading to the Metrodome to shoot some college football games as one of the official photographers. I never gave sports photography much thought so I am interested to see how it all works out. My style of shooting certainly leans more to the photojournalist side so I am believing I will do pretty good. This is another opportunity for which I am grateful to be a part.
Things are good and I am busy… I love it!
Here are a couple of shots from the Blum wedding. These are two I quickly posted to my site. I am still processing through the others and will post some more there soon.
God bless and I pray that His hands are moving and He is covering next week’s election. With all the financial turmoil and all the controversy over candidates it is a situation that calls for more than just the work of mere mortals.
